The Steelers announced this past Thursday that they have picked up defensive end Cameron Heyward. In 2011, he was the 31st overall pick of the overall draft, but didn’t make much of a mark.

Last season, he racked up 7.5 sacks, 12 QB hits and 33 hurries, showing that he does have great potential with the right team. The Steelers seem to think that they are the right team for the job and in return start their foundation to their next generation of defense.

Heyward will help connect the gap of young players like Ryan Shazier and Alvin Dupree, to the veterans on the team. The Steelers are known for developing young players and building their team and this seems no different. They intend to pay $59.25 million dollars with their 6 year deal.
