Brewers trade Adam Lind to Seattle
MLB Insider Jon Heyman reports that the Milwaukee Brewers will trade first baseman Adam Lind to the Seattle Mariners. The Mariners have been in talks with Milwaukee since Monday, after the team acquired Wade Miley from the Boston Red Sox.
Lind had an excellent season for the Brew Crew. He hit 20 homers, drove in 87 runs, and had a batting clip of .277. Lind, 31, has spent all of his Major League seasons with the Toronto Blue Jays before being dealt for Marco Estrada.
Seattle needs a first baseman and they get one here in Lind. He has a power stroke, with 2009 being his best season as he hit 35 bombs and 114 RBI. He gives the M’s a bit of versatility. Lind can play first, but if need be, he can also play left field.
Seattle GM Jerry Dipoto has been extremely active all winter. This will be his ninth trade as Mariners GM, starting with dealing Logan Morrison and Brad Miller and now landing Lind. Dipoto is going for it now, and he may not be done.
