Breaking: Pierre Thomas Declines Offer
With the injury of running back Arian Foster, it was no secret that the Houston Texans needed to go out and find another running back to carry the heavy load. After his second workout, the Texans planned on signing Pierre Thomas, who recently played with the New Orleans Saints.
The Texans also brought in Joe McKnight and Ben Malena to workout with the team, but it is reported that Thomas was the clear favorite.
Thomas, 30, was cut in March by the Saints one year into a two-year, $2.404 million contract extension that included a $1.245 million signing bonus.
Thomas and the Saints were unable to agree on terms, so it seems as though the Texans find themselves in a tough situation. Will they invest into a different running back, or will they offer Thomas a new deal? No one for sure knows the details behind the story, but it should be interesting to see how things play out.
