BREAKING: Pirates SP Jameson Tallion Undergoes Surgery For Testicular Cancer

Yesterday during the Pirates ballgame against the Milwaukee Brewers, young righty Jameson Tallion, who’s established himself in their starting rotation, was placed on the DL with small groin discomfort. Tallion, 25, quickly went to get medical attention. It is suspected that he has testicular cancer and as of this morning, he is officially being treated for it—as announce by the team within the past hour.

Tallion started the season for the Pirates 2-1, posting a 3.31 ERA and 30 Ks in six starts. One of the few bright spots in the suspension (and injury) riddled season of the Pirates, Tallion now hits the DL alongside Adam Frazier and star 3B David Freese. Jung Ho Kang and All-Star outfielder Starling Marte are currently on the restricted list and things are not looking good for Pittsburgh. The Colorado Rockies young pitcher, Chad Bettis, is currently being treated for the same thing.

The Athletes Hub will keep you posted as more information becomes available. We wish Tallion the best luck in his recovery and road back to the bright lights of Major League Baseball.
