The WNBA has issued sanctions on one of the best players in the league, Phoenix Mercury star Brittney Griner. Griner and her newly-wed wife, Glory Johnson, who plays for the Tulsa Shock, have been suspended for 7 unpaid games after they were both arrested on misdemeanor assault and disorderly conduct charges at their Phoenix home in April. President of the WNBA, Laurel Richie, stated on Friday that the conduct by the two women was detrimental to the league.
According to reports, Griner and Johnson had an argument in April that resulted in Griner receiving bite marks and scratches, and Johnson receiving a concussion as well as scratches.
Both players will also have to attend individual counseling along with their suspensions.
