The Carolina Panthers have acquired Defensive End Jared Allen from the Chicago Bears, Jay Glazier of FOX Sports reports. The Panthers will send a conditional sixth round draft pick to Chicago.

Allen was paid $11.5M in March and Carolina will pay him a bonus of $823,000 this year. Allen is currently flying to Carolina for his physical. He came over to Chicago in 2014 after having a nice career in Minnesota with the Vikings.

Allen has hit a rough spot as of late, and according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Bears have had talks open for weeks and other teams knew of his availability. Allen has 134 career sacks, with 4 tackles, 1 INT, and 0 sacks in 3 games this year.

Carolina lost DE Charles Johnson to hamstring injury early this season. The acquisition of Allen fills that void and adds a pass rushing presence on their line.
