Bobrovsky Heading To Injured Reserve

After having a bad start with 0 wins this season, the Columbus Blue Jackets have turned it around. Most of the turnaround has been because of the performance of goalie Sergei Bobrovsky. The team has to play without him for awhile, after the team placed him on injured reserve. He will be on the shelf for three weeks with a lower body injury. Bobrovsky left the game Tuesday vs Los Angeles Kings in the third period.
This season Bobrovsky had a record of 11-12-1, 2.52 GAA, with a save percentage of.916. In a upsetting start to the season for the Jackets, where everyone had the team being a contender this season. The team has not played like a contender right out of the gate losing, the first eight games of the season. Even though this has been a disappointing year, Bobrovsky has been average for them in net having an GAA under 3.00.
Even though it is only a three week injury, and it is not even the halfway mark of the season yet. Losing a starting goalie like Bobrovsky, is a big loss to the team. Since he is an valuable piece to the team. The offense and defense has to step up in his absence. Backup goalie Curtis McElhinney is going to be in net, during the next three weeks. So at the goalie position is a big downgrade, even though McEkhiney has been playing pretty good as of late.
With Bobrovsky injured, backup McElinney has to step it up in his absence. The goalie has been playing well, being Bobrovsky backup waiting for a chance to start. Now is his perfect chance to prove why he was the right choice as the backup goalie. Not a good chance the team will bench Bobrovsky for him, when he comes back for him unless McElinney performs outstanding putting up outstanding numbers within the next three weeks. All McElinney has to do is keep the team in games, not allowing a lot of goals giving the team a chance to win the game.
