St. Louis Blues forward Jori Lehtera has been taken to the hospital after suffering a throat injury during a game Tuesday vs. the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Lehtera left the game with 8:27 remaining in the first period after playing five shifts totaling 3:25. He left the ice on his own and reportedly was taken to the hospital by ambulance in his street clothes.

He has two goals and eight assists in 18 games this season.

You never want to see these kinds of injuries happen. Well, you don’t want to see any injury. However, these injuries up by the head are especially sickening to watch. We wish Lehtera a speedy recovery, and hope he will be back on the ice for the Blues soon.
