The moment NHL fans have been waiting for finally happened as game one in the Stanley Cup took place between the Chicago Blackhawks and the Tampa Bay Lightning. Both teams traveled different paths, but everyone in the country knew it was going to be a close result.

On Wednesday night, the Blackhawks found themselves in an early hole as Alex Killorn scored a goal in the first period to give the Lightning a 1-0 lead.

After a scoreless second period, the Blackhawks knew there backs were up against the wall. But just like that, the Blackhawks would find themselves back on top.

Following goals by both Teuvo Teravainen and Antonio Vermette, the Blackhawks would go onto win the matchup by a score of 2-1.

If this is the type of excitement we will be seeing in future games to come, this will be one of the best matchups in NHL Stanley Cup history.
