After falling to the Houston Rockets in the NBA Bubble, it has been reported that the Oklahoma City Thunder and head coach Billy Donovan will not pursue a contract extension this offseason. Donovan has been with the organization for the last five seasons, compiling a 60.8% regular season winning percentage.
The Thunder, who were entering what most assumed was a rebuild stage, will interview multiple strong candidates in hopes of finding their next head coach. While Oklahoma City has made the playoffs in each of the last five seasons under Donovan, they haven’t made it past the first round since the 2015-16 season; Donovan’s first year in control.
