On Monday morning on the Ariel Helwani MMA Show, Ben Askren announced his retirement from the UFC. Askren suffered back-to-back losses this year to Jorge Masvidal and Demian Maia.
Askren, who finishes his MMA career with a record of 19-2-1, entered the UFC after ONE Championship traded him in exchange for Demetrious Johnson. In his debut, Askren defeated Robbie Lawler via submission in a controversial bout.
Askren is a former Bellator and ONE Championship Welterweight Champion. After a short retirement in 2017, this news comes as a surprise.
