After securing their first NBA Championship since 2010, the Los Angeles Lakers are executing their top priority in re-signing Anthony Davis. The forward plans to opt-out of his $28.7 million player option and sign with the team on a long-term deal. Entering free agency, Davis was the top player available.
In his first season with Los Angeles, Davis managed to average 26.1 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game. Defensively, he maintained 2.3 blocks and 1.5 steals per contest.
At this time, the Lakers open as +350 favorites to secure another NBA Championship next season. The team will have other free agent decisions to address this offseason, including what to do with Rajon Rondo, Dwight Howard, and others.
