Andrew Miller Updates

The New York Yankees are two games on top of the rest in the AL East, and part of that success comes from earlier in the season thanks to closing pitcher Andrew Miller.

Before put on the disabled list on June 11th with a left flexor forearm strain, Miller was the leader in saves (17) and was proven worthy already of an All-Star position this season. Miller went ahead on Saturday and threw a bullpen session, claiming the following:

“I’m happy with it,” Miller said. “Physically felt good but also I’m kind of at the point where I want to make sure I’m starting to get sharp, and obviously today wasn’t bad at all.”

Before being activated from the DL, pitching coach Larry Rothschild said that Miller would have to go at least one rehab game before he is back in action for the Yankees bullpen.

Although Dellin Betances has performed well for the Yankees, manager Joe Girardi has every intention to keep Andrew Miller as the closer once he returns.
