In the main event of UFC 234: Adesanya vs Silva, the judge’s unanimous decision win was given to Israel Adesanya. Despite his previous absence, Anderson Silva entertained and gave a performance to the Melbourne crowd.
Silva appeared in his 20th main card on Saturday night, which is the most in UFC history.
The former simultaneous Featherweight and Lightweight Champion, Conor McGregor, went on Twitter to praise Silva for his outing.
Anderson is one crafty, crafty Martial Artist.
You only develop these methods through years of hard fought experience.
Phenomenal performance.
The crafty veteran. Big respect always.
It would be an honor!— Conor McGregor (@TheNotoriousMMA) February 10, 2019
Silva suggested in a postfight interview that he was open to a rematch with Nick Diaz, who is coming off a 2-year suspension, at UFC 237 in Brazil. McGregor later added fuel to the fire, noting that he was open to fighting Nate Diaz in a trilogy match within the same card.
Back in November, McGregor failed to secure the Lightweight title, losing via submission to Khabib Nurmagomedov. While fighting Diaz doesn’t place McGregor back into the Lightweight title conversation, a trilogy match at UFC 237 could generate a lot of revenue for the UFC.
