Throughout the month of May, we’ve seen a lot of attention pointed towards and NHL and NBA playoffs, but how about this Indy 500? On Saturday afternoon, rookie Alexander Rossi took home the checkered flag in amazing fashion.

The reason this victory was so remarkable? The hype that this race was raced for the 100th time made it hyped to the point where Rossi’s name will now go down in the history books of motor sports.

This was such an incredible win, especially considering that Rossi raced the last 36 laps on fuel, risking his chance to even be able to finish the race.

The last rookie to win the Indy 500? Date back to 2001 with Helio Castroneves. Congratulations to the No. 98 car and his staff.
