After hitting the halfway point to the season, we are seeing more rookies find roles for themselves on their respective teams. Here are the top honorable mentions for Week 8.
Honorable Mentions: Pittsburgh Steelers RB Najee Harris (120 total yards, 1 TD), Pittsburgh Steelers TE Pat Freiermuth (4 rec, 44 yards, 1 TD), Dallas Cowboys LB/DE Micah Parsons (11 tackles)
3. RB Elijah Mitchell, San Francisco 49ers
Mitchell has made it into the top three in back-to-back weeks. He was a big part of the 49ers victory against the Chicago Bears this past weekend with 137 rushing yards and a touchdown. Mitchell seems to have set himself up as the team’s primary running back for the remainder of the season as long as he can stay healthy.
2. QB Justin Fields, Chicago Bears
Fields makes the list for the first time this season, despite the loss against the San Francisco 49ers. He passed for 175 yards and a touchdown while adding 103 rushing yards on the ground with another score. Fields had his breakout game, so now fans will be looking for consistency.
1. RB Michael Carter, New York Jets
Carter also made his first appearance in the top three, taking the top spot overall with a great game for the Jets. Carter had 77 rushing yards and a touchdown to go along with nine receptions for an additional 95 yards. Carter filled the role well as a primary back in Week 8, and may have earned the lead role entering future weeks.
