At Bellator 220, Rory MacDonald battled Jon Fitch for the Bellator Welterweight title and ended in a majority draw. That not the only thing that happened though, the champion MacDonald had a post-fight interview in which he said in the statement below.
“It’s hard to pull the trigger. I don’t have that killer instinct. It’s hard to explain. … It takes a certain spirit to come in here and put a man through pain, and I don't know if I have that same drive to hurt people anymore."

MacDonald has fought with the likes of Robbie Lawler, Carlos Condit, Douglas Lima, Tyron Woodley, Nate Diaz, Stephen Thompson, Gegard Mousassi and with amassing a record of 20-5-1, having challenged for the UFC’s Welterweight title in a Fight of the Year winner with Lawler. Once MacDonald defeated Lima for Bellator’s Welterweight title, it’s looking like after 13-years, the days of MacDonald fighting in an octagon are coming to an end.
This isn’t a bad thing, he has a fiance and a daughter, he has achieved so much in and out of the octagon and after having an amazing career in companies like Extreme Fighting Championship, King Of The Cage, Rumble In The Cage, UFC and Bellator where he was, or is the champion in 2 out of the 5 promotions he fought for.
MacDonald is set to face off with Neiman Gracie, and due to the draw, MacDonald not only keeps his Welterweight title, but also advances in the Welterweight Grand Prix where he still must defend his title; this time against Gracie where if MacDonald loses his title, he may decide to hang up the gloves once and for all.
