Kyler Murray Wins Heisman Trophy

Kyler Murray was awarded the Heisman Memorial Trophy on Saturday night, capping off an incredible season that saw him lead Oklahoma to a fourth consecutive Big 12 championship, as well as a second straight birth in the College Football Playoff.

It was a close call between him and Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa, but Murray is without a doubt a deserved winner; he is the first player in FBS history to average both 300 yards passing and 60 yards rushing. Overall on the season, he passed for over 4000 yards and 40 touchdowns and added 892 yards and 11 rushing scores. He also led the nation in QBR and yards per attempt, and was top five in yards, touchdowns, and completion percentage.

Murray has already signed a contract with the MLB Oakland Athletics, so we will see if winning this award will change his plans to stick with baseball next year.

Oklahoma is now the first school to have back-to-back Heisman winners since Army running backs Doc Blanchard and Glenn Davis won in 1945-46.
