On Friday’s press conference in Los Angeles, the UFC announced that the “Notorious” Conor McGregor will take on the Lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov on October 6th at UFC 229.
This fight has been highly anticipated by MMA fans, and now those same fans can take a deep breath and prepare for the bout.
Nurmagomedov recently won the lightweight championship back in April against Al Iaquinta, while McGregor has been dealing with legal issues to get this fight finalized. With bad blood in the mix, UFC 229 in Las Vegas should be one of the most anticipated fights in recent memory.
In result of the promo showing in Los Angeles, the clip teasing Nurmagomedov and McGregor caused theatrics involving both Nate Diaz and Dustin Poirier. While Diaz has been out of the UFC with his own legal issues, Poirier is a name that most expected to be next in line for a title shot. After both fighters threatened to walk out of their own event, UFC 230, it should make for an interesting development over the next few months.
