WWE Money In The Bank Breakdown & Predictions

On Sunday Night, WWE presents one of the most exciting nights of the year Money In The Bank. On this night four men from the SmackDown roster and four men from the Raw roster compete in a life-changing match the Money In The Bank Match where the winner gets a World Title Shot anytime they want for a year. It’s the same for the women’s division, with four women from SmackDown and four women from Raw compete to see who gets a shot at the Women’s championship anytime they want. With all that in mind, and several titles being on the line, who will walk out of Chicago this Sunday as a winner?

AJ Styles (c) vs. Shinsuke Nakamura

Last Man Standing Match for the WWE Championship

Martin’s Take: Ever since their match at WrestleMania, Shinsuke Nakamura has been on a rampage changing his attitude and using heel tactics to get an advantage in matches. AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura clearly do not like each other, these two have bad blood that has been brewing since their time at New Japan Pro Wrestling and several times during their feud, there has not been a clear winner with the result being a no contest and a countout. This last man standing match will finally decide a clear winner and this will be a fun match to watch outside of the Money In The Bank matches, this match right here is my favorite of the night.

It is hard to call who is winning this match since both men can win honestly but Styles time as WWE Champion has been very long so would not surprise me at all and would be the right move if Nakamura wins this match and becomes WWE Champion. All in all, the conclusion to their feud should be soon with this being a Last Man Standing Match and both men willing to do anything to win. With the rumors that a SmackDown superstar is winning the Men’s Money In The Bank Match, this title match should be the main event to add some speculation to the match at the end and see if the winner of the Money In The Bank briefcase will cash in after this grueling match.

Prediction:  Shinsuke Nakamura

Rami’s Take:  The boiling feud continues as Styles and Nakakura enter their fifth match of the year and quite possibly the finale to it. Since WrestleMania 34, these two have been fighting and with 2 draws, both men having a win over one another and at Money in the Bank. The end is near for who walks out the last man standing with the WWE Championship.

Prediction: AJ Styles

Luke’s Take: Somehow, Styles vs Nakamura has gone from the must see feud of the year to a snooze fest with very few fans caring. With how it has gone since Wrestlemania this year, I am expecting that AJ Styles will be walking out with the belt here. The match does suit Nakamura, however Styles will prevail with the win and hopefully it will be the last time that we see these two battle for a while.

Prediction: AJ Styles

Elsio’s Take: This will be the night Nakamura goes over. I don’t see WWE ending this feud with the title on Styles. Nakamura is over with the crowd and was pushed fast to get this feud. To have him fail to win the title would plummet his momentum. The title is going to Shinsuke Nakamura.

Prediction: Shinsuke Nakamura

Braun Strowman vs. Finn Bálor vs. The Miz vs. Rusev vs. Bobby Roode vs. Kevin Owens vs. Samoa Joe vs. (Big E, Kofi Kingston, or Xavier Woods)

Money in the Bank Ladder Match For A World Championship Contract

Martin’s Take: This match has been a yearly tradition in the WWE ever since 2005 and whoever wins this match usually has their career changed in one night. It is no different this year, there are so many talented superstars that are deserving of winning this match. Samoa Joe and Finn Balor will not be winning this match since those two touched the briefcase before the actual match and that is bad luck to everyone that has done it. Braun Strowman is the odds-on favorite due to his size and strength, but the briefcase would not really do a lot for him, in the long run, he would do better without it.

Kevin Owens would be interesting holding the briefcase but to me, the winner and the person that needs to win this match is The Miz. Miz has been on a hot streak as of late becoming one of the best heels in the company right now and even though he already won the match before, it would be smart to have him win the match again to plant the seeds on a potential feud against Daniel Bryan for the WWE Championship.

Prediction:  The Miz

Rami’s Take: Strowman, Miz, Roode, Owens, Joe, Balor, Rusev and one member of the New Day are all looking to escalate their careers by winning the Money in the Bank ladder match and become a WWE Champion, the Miz is the only man to do so, while everyone is either new or has failed at trying. Power, speed, pain and a goal of climbing the ladder to become Mr. Money in the Bank is what these men look forward to and with all the built-up moment for this huge night. 8 men will walk in, 7 will leave with bruises and marks, 1 man will walk out with a guaranteed title shot against the WWE or Universal Champion.

Prediction: The Miz

Luke’s Take:  I said in a piece last month that it was time for The Miz to get back to the top of the WWE and this is a perfect time for it. He’s one of the top heels, he seemingly can’t put a step wrong at the moment and we possibly could see the return of Maryse to help. Rusev is very much a dark horse though, with Aiden English to be a major factor if he hangs around.

Prediction: The Miz

Elsio’s Take: The Miz winning this match makes so much sense to me. The Miz has been the top heel of the company lately and has made the Intercontinental Title relevant again. I think everyone agrees the Miz deserves a push, and this is it. This could also lead to the much hyped up storyline between Daniel Bryan and the Miz.

Prediction: The Miz

Ember Moon vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Alexa Bliss vs. Becky Lynch vs. Natalya vs. Lana vs. Naomi vs. Sasha Banks

Money in the Bank Ladder Match For A Women’s Championship Contract

Martin’s Take: For the second year in a row, the WWE will be putting on a Women’s Money In The Bank match where 8 competitors will look to climb up a ladder and grab a briefcase that includes a championship match anytime they want until next year. With everyone fighting to grab a once in a lifetime opportunity, this will be an interesting match to watch and it is anyone’s match. Charlotte would be interesting but she does not need the briefcase, she is already an established superstar in the division and there are more people in this match that deserve it more than her. Just like Charlotte, Alexa Bliss is in the same category, she does not really need the briefcase. Lana is an interesting choice but to me, she needs to improve more before she holds the briefcase but it would not surprise me if the company puts all of their eggs in one basket and she won. To me,  Ember Moon is someone that WWE seems to be very high on ever since she arrived on the main roster and if the company wants to run with her for the long run, having her win the Money In The Bank briefcase is the way to go.

Prediction: Ember Moon

Rami’s Take: The second time the women get to have their own Money in the Bank ladder match is here. Ember Moon, Alexa Bliss, Charlotte, Becky Lynch, Lana, Naomi, Natalya and Sasha Banks all look to take and deliver as much pain as they can and it’s surely going to be brutal, but worth every second of it. After all, this is the women’s evolution. All women have their own natural skills and whoever plays their cards right will walk out with the briefcase and a guaranteed shot at the Raw or Smackdown Live! Women’s Championship.

Prediction: Natalya

Luke’s Take: It’s been a while since Becky Lynch has been relevant with any kind of storyline, and this has the potential to jump-start her rise back to the top of the women’s division. In a fantasy land, she would push Charlotte off the top of the ladder to win this. While I don’t believe too much in fantasies,  there is a distinct possibility that Lynch could be the one to get the win here. The other option is Ember Moon. I like going with the underdogs here though.

Prediction: Becky Lynch

Elsio’s Take: Charlotte becoming Ms. Money in the Bank makes sense to me, Charlotte has been a favorite and probably the most talented woman on the roster for the past few years. The end of her title reign was questionable. I could see the creative team putting the briefcase on her to fix their mistake. The cash in would be fun to see.

Prediction: Charlotte

Nia Jax (c) vs. Ronda Rousey – Singles Match For The WWE Raw Women’s Championship

Martin’s Take:  Ever since debuting in the WWE in January, former UFC Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey has been making a name for herself and bringing in star power and media attention. When Nia Jax finally won the Women’s Championship from Alexia Bliss, it was a feel-good moment but all that momentum is gone now after how the company has been pushing her for several weeks. It will be interesting to see how the WWE goes with this, one way they can go with this match is to have Nia Jax win cleanly the problem with that idea is with how big a star Ronda is having her lose her first Pay Per View Match would not be smart at all. Another way they can go with this match is have Ronda win the championship, the problem with that is people are going to say that it is way too early to put the title on her with Rousey only being in the company for close to 5 months. The last way they can do this and most likely the best way is her winning but by disqualification or count out. Having her win by disqualification or countout is a win-win, people would not get mad over her winning the title since you can’t win a title via disqualification or countout and she would not lose her first singles match on Pay Per View.

Prediction: Ronda Rousey by Disqualification

Rami’s Take: A match where strength and skill are tested for the Raw Women’s Championship as Nia Jax looks to use her strength against the submission skilled Ronda Rousey who is coming off a win at WrestleMania 34 against Stephanie McMahon. Rousey is seen as an underdog who might not be able to defeat the irresistible force, but Rousey has faced lots of doubts before and at Money in the Bank, Rousey will look to defeat Jax and become the first women to be UFC champion and WWE champion.

Prediction: Ronda Rousey By Submission

Luke’s Take: This could go either way, and I’m predicting that Rousey will win but she won’t get the championship. She’s been on a tirade, taking people down and making it look decent but she doesn’t have the ring IQ as of yet. Nia Jax was a face after her win against Alexa Bliss, however she’s back in that tweener role that makes it hard to spot. Expect Ronda to win, however it won’t be with the belt.

Prediction: Ronda Rousey by Disqualification

Elsio’s Take: Vince McMahon just signed his next big draw. Ronda is the newest shiniest thing on the roster, so of course, the title should go on her. Putting the title on Ronda Rousey can draw more casual viewers and peak interest. Nia was just there to transition the title to Ronda.

Prediction: Ronda Rousey By Pinfall

Carmella (c) vs. Asuka – Singles Match For The WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship

Martin’s Take: On the SmackDown after WrestleMania, Carmella cashed in her Money In The Bank briefcase on Charlotte and became the SmackDown Women’s Champion. Ever since she won the title, she has been on a role, amazing promo work as a heel champion and defeating everyone in her path. At WrestleMania, Asuka shockingly lost her undefeated streak, losing her streak surprised a lot of people due to the fact that a lot of people were speculating that she was going to be undefeated until at least WrestleMania next year. With Asuka losing her streak, now the company can focus more on pushing Carmella as a dominant champion which is what I am expecting for them to do. Defeating Asuka at Money In The Bank would give Carmella some momentum during her title run. With the fact that Carmela won the title just two months ago, it does not seem like the right move to have her lose it so soon. With SummerSlam in August, that would be a better time to have her lose the title when she held it for five months which in my opinion is a good amount of time for her to keep the title.

Prediction: Carmella By Pinfall

Rami’s Take: A match that really doesn’t have the possibility of being anything but a time filler, the Smackdown Live! Women’s champion Carmella has not really been an entertaining champion but is still champion, maybe not for long though as she faces Asuka who used to be undefeated but is in line for a championship match for some weird reason. This match could be well, it could be bad, but it will be something.

Prediction: Asuka By Pinfall

Luke’s Take: The obvious choice here is Asuka, but Carmella has been sneaky on a few occasions to get up in big matches (no, this time last year doesn’t count). It wouldn’t surprise me to see Asuka go down after some cheeky shenanigans from Carmella. This would set up the feud going forward, with Asuka getting the belt at Summerslam.

Prediction: Carmella By Pinfall

Elsio’s Take: May not be undefeated anymore, but I still don’t think WWE would have her lose to Carmella. Asuka is still one of the strongest forces on the roster. Look for Carmella to disqualify herself or get herself counted out.

Prediction: Asuka by Disqualification

Roman Reigns vs. Jinder Mahal – Singles Match

Martin’s Take: Over the past few weeks, Roman Reigns and Jinder Mahal has been going at it ever since Mahal cost Reigns the chance to qualify for the Money In The Bank Match. These two both have similarities to their wrestling style with the both of them being powerhouses and love using their strength to their advantage. The difference between these two is how they have been pushed over the few months, Mahal has won the WWE Championship while Reigns, on the other hand, has not and that is largely due to the fact that Brock Lesnar only shows up a few times a year. It would really surprise me if Mahal wins this match, to me, this is just a feud for Reigns until Lesnar comes back and having him lose right now would not seem logical. With the way the company is pushing Reigns, it would not surprise me if Mahal does not have a lot of offense and this match ends in less than 10 minutes but if the company could allow Mahal to get some offense on Reigns and have it go 10 minutes or more before Reigns wins that would be the smart thing to do.

Prediction: Roman Reigns By Pinfall

Rami’s Take: The Big Dog VS The Maharaja is something I really look forward to. It feels fresh and something you can re-get into. Reigns is coming off losses to Brock Lesnar and a win over Samoa Joe, but has since entered a feud with the former WWE and United States champion Jinder Mahal. A win from either man could build up the momentum for either man to face Lesnar for the Universal Championship. I see lots of power moves and speed to keep this match alive before someone gets the win.

Prediction: Jinder Mahal By Pinfall

Luke’s Take: This will be one of the very few times in which Jinder Mahal may be getting cheered by an audience outside of India. Mahal has been using Samir Singh as a back-up at ringside most weeks, and I am praying that this happens again. Logical booking is that Roman Reigns gets up but look for Singh to eat a super man punch, with Mahal hitting the colass for the win.

Prediction: Jinder Mahal By Pinfall

Elsio’s Take: Of course it’s going to be Reigns. Vince McMahon loves him like a creepy backstage secret kinda love. The only reason Roman is being booked against Jinder is fans arguably hate Jinder more. The objective of the match will be to make Roman look as strong as possible. Look for Roman to lay out the Singh Brothers, counter the Khallas and lay Jinder out. Roman wins again.

Prediction: Roman Reigns By Pinfall

The Bludgeon Brothers  (c) vs. Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson Tag Team Match For The WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship

Martin’s Take: Over the past few months, the Tag Team division on Monday Night Raw has been hard to watch. With the way the show has been showcasing the tag team division, it is like it is not there. On the SmackDown side, however, the tag division has been showcased and getting some quality air time. Ever since winning the Tag Tem Championship, The Bludgeon Brothers has been dominating the division. It did not take long for Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson to make a name for themselves since joining the SmackDown roster in the WWE Superstar shakeup, the former Raw Tag Team Champions have already defeated The Usos to earn the right to be named Number 1 Contenders to the SmackDown Tag Team Championship. Even though Gallows and Anderson have the momentum heading to the event, The Bludgeon Brothers should be able to retain their titles when the titles are on the line and continue their run of the tag team division.

Prediction: The Bludgeon Brothers By Pinfall

Rami’s Take: The Bludgeon Brothers have been on a roll since winning the Smackdown Live! Tag Team Championships and face new competition as Gallows and Anderson look to dethrone the seemingly impossible duo. Gallows and Anderson have had gold before on Raw, but this is a new place and Harper and Rowan aren’t going to let go of those titles anytime soon, but an upset could happen or not if it does. Wow, if not. It’ll be a bad night for the Club.

Prediction: The Bludgeon Brothers By Pinfall

Luke’s Take: This just makes sense. The feud isn’t exactly splashing cash on TV, and while The Club is due for a title win it’s not going to be here. The Bludgeon Brothers have been on a role as of late and unless we see some interference from The Usos, we won’t be seeing these titles change hands anytime soon.

Prediction: The Bludgeon Brothers By Pinfall

Elsio’s Take: The Bludgeon Brothers have been dominant, and at this stage, I don’t see a reason to stop it now. This should be a long run and shouldn’t be ended by The Club. I see a possible squash here. That’s the style the Bludgeon Brothers should have.

Prediction: The Bludgeon Brothers By Pinfall

Bobby Lashley vs. Sami Zayn Singles Match

Martin’s Take: After getting cut by the company in 2008, Bobby Lashley returned to the WWE the night after WrestleMania 34 after months of speculation that he was returning to the company. With Lashley returning, it was a feel-good moment but after a few weeks all the magic of his return was gone and that is a majority thanks to his booking and his awful segment with Sami Zayn. If WWE has a lot invested in Lashley,  this is a match that he should win because he needs some much-needed momentum if he wants to be a threat on Raw and the sooner this feud with Sami Zayn is over the better. Out of every match on the Raw side of the show, this is the match that I am least looking forward to and for a good reason as well having 3 grown men drew up as women pretending to be Bobby Lashley sisters makes me want to turn off the TV and not have a lot of interest in this feud at all.

Prediction: Bobby Lashley By Pinfall

Rami’s Take:   A really bad feud that could actually have a great match. It’s happened before, but can it happen again? Zayn is very quick, energetic, but has lots of power, the same goes for Lashley but doubled. The segments for this have been awful, but the matches always change opinions and it’s hard to see it be bad when both men are great at what they do.

Prediction: Sami Zayn By Pinfall

Luke’s Take: The new Roman Reigns against Sami Zayn. Not many can say that they care for this match-up, with the horrible segment a few weeks ago leaving plenty left to be desired. Hopefully this will not be as bad as that segment but you won’t be getting much out of this one. Lashley to win in something worthy of being a filler match.

Prediction: Lashley by Pinfall

Elsio’s Take: I look for Lashley to win this one since he returned recently. It may not be a win by pinfall or submission though. Knowing the WWE, they’ll have Lashley in position to win, and be interrupted by a Kevin Owens attack or Sami Zayn retreat backstage.

Prediction: Lashley By Countout

Seth Rollins (c) vs. Elias – Singles Match For The WWE Intercontinental Championship

Martin’s Take: During  Elias time on the Raw roster, he has been amazing with his mic skills and his ability to get the crowd to hate him even though a lot of people like him. Even though Elias has been impressive as of late, he needs a championship to put him over the top. When Seth Rollins won the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 34, he has been a defending champion fighting all comers hosting several open challenges. For quite some time now, there have been rumors that Seth Rollins will be the next challenger for Brock Lesnar and the Univeral Championship and win it. With that in mind, Rollins needs to lose the title as soon as possible if the rumors are true and there is no better time to lose it than at Money In The Bank. If the WWE see a lot of talent in Elias, now is the perfect time to win a championship with him having all the momentum in the world right now.

Prediction:  Elias By Pinfall

Rami’s Take: A potential match of the night between Rollins and Elias may happen at MITB. Rollins has been champion since WrestleMania 34 and has made the title mean something while Universal champion Brock Lesnar is away. Elias, who debuted not too long ago has already made a name for himself with his style of singing and trashing cities and winning many matches. Both men have great styles and also look-a-like so that’s always a plus, this match will be worth watching.

Prediction: Seth Rollins By Pinfall

Luke’s Take: This has the makings to be the match of the night if it is given enough time. Seth Rollins has had a pretty good run with the Intercontinental Championship and Elias is on his way to becoming a mainstay in the upper midcard. Both superstars can have amazing matches if they are given the time, with Rollins the one to get the victory in what I will guess is the match of the night outside of the men’s money in the bank match.

Prediction: Seth Rollins By Pinfall

Elsio’s Take: It makes sense here, although Rollins has had an enjoyable title reign. Elias is very over and this is a great opportunity to match him. Plus this result would go hand in hand with rumors of Rollins winning the Universal Title at SummerSlam which would mean if Rollins lost here, he’d lose his rematch clause at Extreme Rules.

Prediction: Elias by Pinfall

Daniel Bryan vs. Big Cass – Singles Match

Martin’s Take: When it was announced that Daniel Bryan was cleared to compete in a wrestling ring after being sidelined with a concussion and being forced to retire in 2016, the wrestling world went crazy. This news was what almost every wrestling fan has been waiting for since 2016, a guy that was a fan favorite is finally back in the ring. Fast Forward a few months later, instead of competing against top-level talent, he is feuding with Big Cass who is nowhere near the caliber of Bryan in a feud that not a lot of people are enjoying. This match should finally be the end to this feud with Bryan going over and he will get to move on to better feuds that more suits his wrestling style.

Prediction:  Daniel Bryan by Submission

Rami’s Take: We’ve seen this match happen before and Bryan has walked out the winner before, can it happen again? Possibly. Big Cass has the height and strength, but Bryan is an expert at making his opponents tap out or pass out. This night will possibly play out the same like before with Cass having the upper hand just for Bryan to take the win again.

Prediction: Daniel Bryan By Submission

Luke’s Take: It’s been a little cringe-worthy to watch in all honesty, and I’m not expecting the match to go for overly long considering the event it is. Daniel Bryan will get the easy win here, probably with the heel hook after targeting the knee of Cass for most of the match. There’s not much else to write home about, especially with Cass having some heat on him for the incident a few weeks ago on SmackDown Live.

Prediction:  Daniel Bryan By Submission

Elsio’s Take:  This is one of the easier predictions for me, I think Bryan will win possibly even in a quick squash. If rumors of Cass getting heat on himself for going too far in a segment with a little person is true, a squash would be in order. And with Bryan just recently returning, it wouldn’t make sense to have him lose to a guy who is lower mid card at best. This is an easy one for creative to get right.

Prediction: Daniel Bryan By Submission
