Sad news for combat fans of Yair Rodriguez who has just been cut from the UFC roster after declining fights that were scheduled to happen, but Rodriguez wouldn’t agree on.
UFC President Dana White has said that after a year off from his last fight, Rodriguez was scheduled to fight Ricardo Lamas, but he declined it and was recently scheduled for August 7th at UFC 227 against UFC newcomer Zabit Magomedsharipov. However, Rodriguez once again declined the fight and that’s one too many for the UFC president who decided that he can take his talents elsewhere.
Rodriguez was a huge star in the UFC with wins over Dan Hooker, Alex Caceres, Andre Fili and the legendary B.J. Penn before losing to Frankie Edgar at UFC 211. Rodriguez will probably sign with a small company or Bellator to see if he can rebound from this. If he can’t rebound from his release, then this will be the beginning of the end for Yair Rodriguez.
