2018 NBA Free Agency Tracker

With the NBA offseason in motion, franchises will be permitted to reach verbal agreements with free agents on July 1st. The next date to look for would be July 6th, as free agents will be able to ink their deals with the team of their choice. Here are the latest reports, rumors, and updates within each respective franchise heading into free agency:

Atlanta Hawks
- Dewayne Dedmon and Mike Muscala have exercised their player options for the 2018-19 season. Dedmon will be owed $7.2 million, while Muscala will earn $5 million.
- The Hawks have waived Isaiah Taylor, avoiding a $300,000 guarantee.
- For the right price, the Atlanta Hawks could be willing to trade for Denver Nuggets’ Kenneth Faried, according to rumors.
- The Atlanta Hawks will not tender Josh Magette a qualifying offer, making him an unrestricted free agent.
Boston Celtics
- Aron Baynes has agreed to a two-year, $11 million extension with the Boston Celtics. The second year in Baynes’ contract will be a player option.
- Marcus Smart will likely re-sign with the Boston Celtics on his $6.1 million qualifying offer.
- There is a media-based concern about Kyrie Irving not being in a rush to sign an extension with the Boston Celtics. On one hand, Irving would lose out on $80 million by signing an extension this summer. On the other hand, Irving never put the Celtics on his initial “list” of desired locations last year during the trade deadline.
Brooklyn Nets
- Ed Davis has agreed to a one-year, $4.4 million deal with the Brooklyn Nets.
- Joe Harris has agreed to a two-year, $16 million deal with the Brooklyn Nets.
- Suitors for James Ennis during free agency include the Houston Rockets, Brooklyn Nets and Philadelphia 76ers.
Charlotte Hornets
- In a three-way trade, Timofey Mozgov will be sent from Charlotte to Orlando, Bismack Biyombo will be sent from Orlando to Charlotte, Julyan Stone will be sent from Charlotte to Chicago, and Jerian Grant will be sent from Chicago to Orlando.
- Tony Parker has signed a two-year, $10 million deal with the Charlotte Hornets.
- The Hornets will not tender a qualifying offer to Treveon Graham or Marcus Paige, making them unrestricted free agents.
Chicago Bulls
- The Chicago Bulls have matched the Kings’ four-year, $84 million deal with Zach LaVine, as he will remain in Chicago.
- In a three-way trade, Timofey Mozgov will be sent from Charlotte to Orlando, Bismack Biyombo will be sent from Orlando to Charlotte, Julyan Stone will be sent from Charlotte to Chicago, and Jerian Grant will be sent from Chicago to Orlando. Chicago has waived Stone in the three-way trade with Orlando and Charlotte.
- The Chicago Bulls are interested in any sign-and-trade deals involving David Nwaba.
- The Chicago Bulls will not extend a qualifying offer to Noah Vonleh.
Cleveland Cavaliers
- After the departure of LeBron James, Kevin Love will be viewed as the focal point of the Cavaliers.
- The Cleveland Cavaliers will extend a $3.4 million qualifying offer to Rodney Hood. Sources believe that Cleveland is willing to match just about any reasonable offer in order to keep Hood on their roster.
- For salary cap purposes, the Cleveland Cavaliers will pick up Kendrick Perkins’ 2018-19 team option.
Dallas Mavericks
- DeAndre Jordan will sign with the Dallas Mavericks on a one-year deal for “slightly less” than the $24.1 million he declined from the Los Angeles Clippers.
- Salah Mejri will sign a one-year, $1.6 million deal with the Dallas Mavericks.
- The Dallas Maverick plan to utilize their $5 million in cap space to re-sign Dirk Nowitzki.
- Dallas expects Yogi Ferrell to play under his $2.9 million qualifying offer with the team.
- The Dallas Mavericks have consistently been linked to restricted free agent Marcus Smart.
Denver Nuggets
- Nikola Jokic will likely sign a contraction extension worth $148 million over five years to remain with the Denver Nuggets.
- Will Barton has signed a four-year, $54 million deal with the Denver Nuggets.
- Wilson Chandler has been traded from the Denver Nuggets to the Philadelphia 76ers.

- The Detroit Pistons have signed Zaza Pachulia to a one-year, $2.4 million deal.
- Glenn Robinson III has signed a two-year, $8.3 million deal with the Detroit Pistons.
- Jose Calderon has signed a one-year, $2.4 million deal with the Pistons.
- Suitors for James Ennis during free agency include the Houston Rockets, Brooklyn Nets and Philadelphia 76ers.
- The Pistons have waived Dwight Buycks.
Golden State Warriors
- Kevin Durant has signed a two-year, $61.5 million contract to remain with the Golden State Warriors. The 2018-19 year will include $30 million, while the 2019-20 year will be a player option worth $31.5 million. In result, Durant took a decently-sized pay cut.
- DeMarcus Cousins will sign a one-year, $5.3 million deal with the Golden State Warriors.
- After being waived by the Utah Jazz, the Golden State Warriors have signed Jonas Jerebko.
- Kevon Looney signed a one-year deal to remain with Golden State.
Houston Rockets
- Chris Paul has signed a four-year $160 million max contract extension to remain with the Houston Rockets.
- Gerald Green has agreed to a one-year, $2.1 million contract with the Houston Rockets.
- Houston has signed Michael Carter Williams to a one-year deal.
- The Houston Rockets have agreed to exercise their team option on Aaron Jackson for the 2018-19 season. He is set to earn $1.4 million.
- If Carmelo Anthony is on the move, the Houston Rockets are an early frontrunner for the veteran.

Indiana Pacers

- There are rumors about Carmelo Anthony wanting to play alongside LeBron James, although it’s unlikely to occur on his current salary.

- It has been reported that Lonzo Ball has a torn meniscus in his left knee. He is expected to be ready by the time training camp begins.

Memphis Grizzlies

- The Grizzlies have waived Omari Johnson from their active roster.
Miami Heat
- Derrick Jones Jr. signed a two-year deal with the Miami Heat.
- The Heat have attempted to move Hassan Whiteside, Tyler Johnson, and Dion Waiters this offseason, but have failed to find a suitor for any of the three.
- One player on the radar of the Miami Heat includes Greg Monroe. With a lack in salary cap space, Monroe would be seen as a cheap, but affordable option.
- The Miami Heat have extended their qualifying offer to Derrick Walton Jr, making him a restricted free agent.
- There are roughly nine or ten franchises interested in Wayne Ellington, and it will be difficult for Miami to retain him.
Milwaukee Bucks
- Ersan Ilyasova has agreed on a three-year, $21 million deal with the Milwaukee Bucks.
- The guarantee date for Brandon Jennings’ salary has been moved from July 1st to August 1st.
- Players rumored to be on the Bucks’ trade block include Eric Bledsoe and Matthew Dellavedova.
Minnesota Timberwolves
- Derrick Rose has agreed on a one-year, $2.1 million deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves, per sources.
- Anthony Tolliver will sign a one-year, $5.7 million deal with the Timberwolves.
- As soon as July 9th hits, the Minnesota Timberwolves will offer Jimmy Butler a four-year, $110 max extension. He becomes a free agent after the 2018-19 season concludes.
- Veteran Jamal Crawford has declined his player option with the Minnesota Timberwolves for next season. The 38-year old was scheduled to make $4.5 million next year.
- Minnesota has waived Cole Aldrich, who was scheduled to earn $6.9 million in the 2018-19 season.
New Orleans Pelicans
- Julius Randle will sign a two-year, $18 million deal with the New Orleans Pelicans.
- Elfrid Payton has signed a one-year, $2.4 million deal with the New Orleans Pelicans.
- Ian Clark has returned to the New Orleans Pelicans on a one-year deal.
New York Knicks
- Knicks center Enes Kanter will exercise his $18.6 million player option for the 2018-19 season.
- Mario Hezonja will sign a one-year, $6.5 million deal with the New York Knicks.
- Luke Kornet will sign a one-year, $1.6 million deal with the New York Knicks.
- The Knicks have signed Isaiah Hicks on a two-way contract.

- Raymond Felton has signed a one-year deal to remain with the Oklahoma City Thunder, pushing the front office’s tax to roughly $150 million.
- Nerlens Noel will sign a minimum deal to be part of the Oklahoma City Thunder.
- Forward Carmelo Anthony intends to go separate ways from the Oklahoma City Thunder. The two sides will meet and find a beneficial result.
Orlando Magic
- Aaron Gordon will sign a four-year, $84 million extension with the Orlando Magic.

- The San Antonio Spurs are currently shopping Kawhi Leonard to the highest bidder. The front office has been active in trade talks with the Philadelphia 76ers and Los Angeles Lakers. According to one source, the team is “ready to move on”.
- The 76ers are engaging in trades talks for Leonard. The only players not on the trade block for Philadelphia include Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons, and Markelle Fultz.
- Out of all the young assets the Los Angeles Lakers can offer for Leonard, one player the San Antonio Spurs are not interested in is Lonzo Ball.
Toronto Raptors
- Fred VanVleet has signed a two-year, $18 million deal to return to the Toronto Raptors. The contract is fully guaranteed.
Utah Jazz
- Derrick Favors will sign a two-year, $36 million deal.
- Dante Exum will sign a three-year, $33 million extension with the Jazz.
- RFA Raul Neto has signed a two-year, $4.4 million deal with the Utah Jazz.
- Utah has reached out to Trevor Booker, who is an unrestricted free agent.
Washington Wizards
- Dwight Howard will sign a two-year, $11 million deal with the Washington Wizards.
