Jones, a two time first team All Pac-12 player, was a consensus first rounder by many experts and even by The Athletes Hub, being projected to the Lions by yours truly, and 11th to New Orleans in Devon Withers’ first mock draft. Jones is coming off a great college career where he recorded 145 tackles, 8 interceptions, and 6 forced fumbles.
NFL.com wrote about his strengths, saying:
“Competes all over the field. Doesn’t play pitty-pat with his jam from press. Throws stiff lead right into the shoulder of receivers like a boxer. Maximizes contact with receivers within first five yards. Eyes are top notch. Balances between quarterback’s eyes and his man from all off coverages”
Comparisons on Jones have ranged from Marcus Peters to even Richard Sherman for his style of play.
If this is a serious injury, it is a huge blow to Jones. To have worked so hard to get to this point, where you’re less than 50 days from realizing your dream, and to have it all come crashing down due to injury, it’s sickening. You have to feel for the guy.
