Will Osweiler Remain in Cleveland?

The NFL free agency is obviously one of the most exciting times of the year. Players have been signing with new teams left and right (which they’ll continue to do) and get deal to other teams, attempting to make a splash. The Houston Texans were one team making a splash as they sent quarterback Brock Osweiler, along with draft picks, to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for the Browns to eat Osweiler’s salary.

Just as soon as the team got him, a report came out that the Browns will just drop Osweiler if they are unable to trade him as well.  Oswiller has played for five years in the NFL. Traded to the Denver Broncos, was made a backup Quarterback for two-time Super Bowl champion, Peyton Manning.

During his time in the Broncos, Osweiler would play a handful of games for the Broncos until he finally got his chance to start. On his first game as a starter, the day of his 25th birthday, Osweiler threw for two touchdowns and only missed 7 out of 20 passes in a win over the Chicago Bears, with the final score of 17-15.

With that performance. he became the first player to start and win his first career game on his birthday. He was eventually named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance against the Bears. Osweiler and the Broncos defeated the undefeated New England Patriots and the San Diego Chargers, before losing to the Oakland Raiders the following week. After Osweiler’s 2015 season ended,  he left the Broncos and signed with the Houston Texans. Osweiler signed a four-year, $72 million contract ($37 million guaranteed) with the Houston Texans.

Before the signing, the Texans were looking for a quarterback to be prepared for the next season. After finally agreeing on both sides, both the Texans and Osweiler agreed to the contract presented.  He made his first start for the Texans on September 11th, 2016. Osweiler had 231 passing yards with 2 touchdowns and an interception in a 23–14 victory against none other than the Chicago Bears.  He would remain the starter until he threw back to back interceptions in the first half against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Replaced by Tom Savage, it was a savage move.

Due to Savage’s injury, Osweiler started the team’s Wild Card Round playoff game against the Oakland Raiders. During the game, he completed 14 of 25 passes for 168 yards and one touchdown while also rushing for a touchdown as the Texans won by a score of 27–14.  Shortly after the game, head coach Bill O’Brien announced that Osweiler would remain the team’s starter for the Divisional round playoff game. After losing the next week to the Patriots,  it would be the end for that season. He is now entering the season as a Cleveland Brown.

With that being said, what’ll happen for Osweiler and the Browns?  Will he be able to help them? Will they just drop him? Comment below.
