With former Atlanta Hawks center Al Horford facing a big-time decision about where to play this year, it has been reported that he will be signing with the Boston Celtics.

The deal will reportedly be worth 4 years and $113 million. Along with the Celtics, the only other front running franchises to bring in Horford were the Washington Wizards, and of course, the Atlanta Hawks (who were looking to re-sign him).

According to sources, the Hawks made a strong push to keep Horford in Atlanta, pitching the idea of sharing the paint with recently signed free agent Dwight Howard.

The latest contract offer that the Hawks offered Horford was 5 years, $136 million (below the max he could receive). The Hawks could have offered him up to $156 million.

Horford instead decided to accept a shorter max contract with the Celtics, who were a few pieces away from a serious championship run this past season.

As for the Celtics, this news couldn’t get any better. With the hopes of signing Kevin Durant dimming slowly, this signing of Horford makes their summer instantly successful.

Will this make them a championship team? Of course lot. Although, with the lack of competition in the East (compared to the West), the Celtics are instantly a bet to get into the playoffs for the 2016-17 season.
