After multiple surprises took place on Thursday’s NBA Draft, one big event that occurred happened to be a trade.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical, the Orlando Magic will be sending Victor Oladipo, Ersan Ilyasova, and the rights to Domantas Sabonis (drafted #11) to the Oklahoma City Thunder in return for Serge Ibaka.
Over the past five or six years, the Thunder have consistently been within reach of an NBA championship, but have yet to secure one. With the help of Oladipo, this could change the views of many on the Thunders chances in the upcoming years.
The Thunder also are in danger of losing their star Kevin Durant, who happens to be a free agent this summer. With the addition of Oladipo, this could be the move that keeps Durant with the franchise.
I 100% believe the Thunder got the better end of this deal. In the past two seasons, Ibaka is shooting 10% less on his FG (47.7%), and his rebounds per game is dropping significantly.
For the Magic, they may have felt this is a move they needed to make, seeing that their issue in recent years has been defending the paint. With Ibaka on roster, the Magic have a veteran leader in the locker room.
Who do you believe got the better end of this deal? The Thunder or the Magic?
