Moving onto the second basemen category, this one was pretty tough. At this position, there isn’t a whole lot of depth in the league. Here are the top 5 second basemen for the 2016 season:

5. Dee Gordon, Miami Marlins

Coming off of an amazing 2015 season, Gordon set the bar high for himself. Winning the NL batting title last season as well as posting a .777 OPS, Gordon is one of the quickest infielders in the game. I expect for Gordon to have a high BA, but not a whole lot of HR this season.

4. Ian Kinsler, Detroit Tigers

Even though he is 34 years old, Kinsler is still one of the more proven veterans in the league. With a .300 BA and 8 RBI this spring, Kinsler has a huge upside to him. I expect for Kinsler to be healthy this season, posting his usual statistics.

3. Dustin Pedroia, Boston Red Sox

Even though it seems like Pedroia is constantly facing injury, the long time Red Sox star has found his way into the top 3. Pedroia still has some years left in him (currently is 32), but I would expect for the Sox to give him resting time throughout the season to keep him healthy.

2. Robinson Cano, Seattle Mariners

Cano left the Yankees for a bigger contract, and hasn’t really done much of anything in his new home. With declining stats, the only thing that is keeping Cano at #2 is his defensive ability, along with his ability to keep up a high BA.

1. Jose Altuve, Houston Astros

Currently only 25 years old, Altuve broke out as a star in 2015. This season? I expect for his stats to even possibly increase. Being an elite base-runner as well as a defender, there is very little wrong with Altuve’s game. If the Astors are going to contend this year, Altuve will be playing a major factor.
