Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson is mulling retirement. “Like many players at this stage of their career, I am currently evaluating options for my future,” Johnson said in a statement. “I would expect to have a decision regarding this matter in the not-too-distant future.”

“Megatron”, as he’s called, is a future hall of famer. Drafted #2 by Detroit in 2007, he didn’t wait to make an impact. He had 46 catches for 756 yards and four TDs. Those stats may not seem all that great, he contributed to a 7-9 team. However, they went 0-16 the very next year.

Johnson, if he retires this offseason, will finish with 721 receptions, 11,619 receiving yards, and 83 TDs. He holds the NFL record for most receiving yards on one season with the 1,964 yards he racked up in 2012 and Most receiving yards in a four-quarter game in NFL history with 329 yards. Those are just a couple NFL records he has. He leads the Lions in most touchdowns in a single season (16), most career touchdowns (83), and most career receiving yards (11,619).

Is Calvin Johnson a first ballot hall of famer? I believe so, but wouldn’t be shocked if he wasn’t. The fact remains that he will be a hall of famer when he hangs them up.
