With week one of the NFL to begin in only seven days, multiple star players are emerging as question marks to start in the first game. Here are a couple updates on players that have caught the injury bug:
Victor Cruz (wide receiver, New York Giants)
The veteran wideout continues to be sidelined with what is being called an injury to the left calf. Cruz said on Monday that he hopes to return to practice and play week one against the Dallas Cowboys. The Giants seem very hesitant to let Cruz play in week one, listing him as doubtful.
Alshon Jeffery (wide receiver, Chicago Bears)
Jeffery contains a “mild calf strain”, which honestly doesn’t appear to be a big deal. Although he has not practiced since August 11th, expect Jeffery to be ready for week one of the regular season in my eyes. The Bears wideout is most likely just taking his time to get back to 100%, but the only question is if he can step up as the number one option in Chicago.
LeSean McCoy (running back, Buffalo Bills)
The 27-year old tailback has been dealing with a hamstring injury for quite some time now. According to a Bills source, McCoy may not be ready for week one against Indy. This is a major red flag. Why was Fred Jackson released if McCoy isn’t ready? The Bills may have a lot going on behind closed doors, but McCoy is someone the organization is hoping to depend on a lot this season.
