Mike Tomlin, Head Coach Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers have extended Coach Tomlin’s contract, and he will coach through the 2018 season. According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler the deal will place Mike Tomlin in the top five among highest paid coaches. In eight seasons with the Steelers, Coach Tomlin has led the team to four AFC North titles, five playoff appearances, and one league champion in two outings.

Analysis: Consistency means a lot in the NFL. Look at the Oakland Raiders, they’ve had 12 head coaches in the past 20 years. The Steelers have had only three in double the time. This bigger news for those who own Big Ben in dynasty leagues. This will help Roethlisberger for the future, and will hold a higher standing among his players now that they know he’ll be around for awhile.

Tom Brady, Quarterback, New England Patriots:

NFL Commissioner, Roger Goodell has yet to set a timetable on his decision on Tom Brady regarding his involvement in “deflategate”. Earlier this year private investigator Ted Wells determined that “it was more probable than not” that Tom Brady was directly involved with the deflating of footballs in the AFC Championship game against the Indianapolis Colts.

Analysis: The decision will be an important one, but unless it gets completely overturned, it won’t drastically change how I have Brady ranked. Currently I have him at No. 10 among quarterbacks. Reports have said his suspension could be reduced to fine if he admits to wrongdoing, but I’m being told by sources that’s unlikely. As soon as a decision is made, we’ll let you know.

Devonta Freeman, Running Back Atlanta Falcons

Source- Fantasy Pros

The Falcons backfield has been one of the most puzzling in the NFL this year. Steven Jackson remains a free agent, and Jacquizz Rodgers was picked up by the Chicago Bears. That leaves new Offensive Coordinator to decide between Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman. I’m being told that Devonta Freeman is the projected starter going into training camp.

Analysis: The Falcons have typically been a RBBC. Even when Steven Jackson was there, he didn’t exactly get a huge chunk of the carries.  Freeman is currently being drafted as the 35th RB, five spots after rookie teammate Tevin Coleman. Pay close attention as the next month should clear up Kyle Shanahan’s intentions with Atlanta’s backfield. Freeman doesn’t have the flash that Coleman does, but is well respected by the coaching staff.
