On Friday Night, Chicago White Sox Pitcher Chris Sale made history. Playing against the Texas Rangers, Sale had a perfect game going for himself up until the sixth inning. Although his perfect game was broken up, he joined Pedro Martinez and Randy Johnson as the only pitchers since 1900 to strike out 12 or more batters in five consecutive starts on the mound.
Sale matched his season high during the game, managing 14 total strikeouts, only allowing two hits in eight innings in a 2-1 loss.
The unstoppable left-hander also managed to tie Johnson’s mark of at least ten batters in six straight outings. Could Sale be on his way towards a Cy Young Award in 2015? It would be tough to accomplish with pitchers like Felix Hernandez in the race, but never say never.
