If you did not watch the Yankees game on Friday night, you missed out on something we may not see for quite awhile. Alex Rodriguez came into tonight’s game with 2999 career hits, and in his first at bat, he got number 3000 out of his way. On a 95 mph first pitch fast ball, A-Rod belted it into the right field stands.

Rodriguez also joined Hank Aaron as the only two players in baseball history to collect more than 600 home runs, 2,000 RBIs and now 3,000 hits.

As Rodriguez rounded the bases he fist pumped in the air with a smile about a mile wide as he crossed home plate hugging Mark Teixeira, the on-deck hitter, and was greeted on the field by all his teammates, who flooded out of the dugout as he crossed home plate as the crowd stood and cheered.

The Yankees went onto win the game 7-2. Rodriguez would finish 1 for 4 as that first hit was his only.
