NFL: Cowboys sign former first round pick A.J. Jenkins

The Dallas Cowboys have announced the signing of former first round pick A.J. Jenkins Tuesday after he worked out for the team this past week.

Jenkins was drafted 30th overall by the 49ers in 2012 and was active for only three games his rookie season as he was targeted once while playing in a total of 37 snaps.

In 2013, he was traded to Kansas City for wide receiver Jon Baldwin. That year he saw 17 targets which is the most he’s seen during his three year career. No one expects Jenkins to be a vital part in the Cowboys offense, especially with a receiving core that already features Dez Bryant, Terrance Williams and Cole Beasley. Dallas also has special teams man Devin Street, which will mean Jenkins will most likely go into training camp fighting for a roster spot. The underachieving former first rounder will look to make the team and hopefully continue his NFL career.
