With Kris Bryant hitting his first major league home run, he’s off to a solid start for the Cubs. White Sox Top prospect, Carlos Rodon, recently won his first major league start on Saturday. Everyone knows the story of Mike Trout and the historical tear Bryce Harper is currently producing, but people tend to forget that Trout and Harper are still in their early 20’s. Even though they’ve been in the league for a couple years, they have helped usher in this new wave of talented players flooding the league from across the globe.

There is no doubt that Kris Bryant is going to be the face of the Cubs’ organization. He’s currently batting .276, with 1 HR and 17 RBI in 21 games for the team. Bryant possess tremendous power with his ability to hit the ball to all fields. The only weakness Bryant contains is that his defense, but I’m sure he’s going to prove to be a plus defender with more time at the hot corner.

Carlos Rodon got his first major league win against the Reds after primarily being used in relief appearances since being called up. He was a little shaky at first, but had a strong showing, only allowing 4 hits, 2 ER, 4 BB and striking out 8 in 6 innings of work. That’s pretty impressive against a hot Red’s lineup.

With all these young players having success and talent showcases, this is a great time for the MLB. Attendance is down, but this surge of young exciting players can spark a sport that, according to general sports fans, has lost its luster.

With that said, the Astros plan on calling up their #1 prospect Carlos Correa, who is tearing it up in the minors and leads the Texas league (AA) in almost every major offensive category.

The Mets top Pitching prospect Noah Syndergaard is slated to make his first start on Tuesday, a player who is also having success in the Minors. While the years of just signing the best free agents and spending armfuls money on older players might be over, the draft might turn out to be a important part of building a winning major league team for years to come.
